Intl Women's Day - who inspires me?
This Intl Women’s Day I give a shout out to Juliet Sargeant. Her gold medal Chelsea Flower Show garden in 2016 was a 1st for the RHS.
For a Black woman to achieve such an accolade had never been seen before. I had the privilege of working with her on the Modern Slavery Garden, which marked the creation of new legislation to challenge & address the issue of slavery throughout the world (including the UK!). Gender inequalities, racial inequalities and exploitation still exists and requires our attention. Juliet is an inspiration. Her work shows how far we have come, and her garden demonstrates the potential to raise awareness and stimulate thought through the art of garden design.
Together we make a difference.
