Biophilia - for Health & Wellbeing

Nature has the most wonderful ability to benefit our wellbeing. The simple act of spending time in a garden is shown to have a profound effect on both our physical and psychological health.

The term Biophilia literally means ‘Love of Life’ and relates to our innate connection to the natural world and the effects this brings. This connection, is an area that science is now researching in earnest.

Spending time in green spaces has been shown to lower cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress. It boosts our immune functions, lowers blood pressure, heart rates and promotes healing. It has been shown to increase cognitive function, aid memory, problem solving skills and even boost our productivity and creativity. Its effects are so potent that Doctors are now starting to prescribe gardens for their therapeutic benefits.

Our gardens have the power to enable us to become calmer, healthier and happier people.
